Day 9 Ibiza:

We woke up to gray skies in Ibiza… a big shame! We went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast and tried to decide how to spend our day before our flight at 6pm. Thankfully our hotel, Playasol Jabaque, allowed you to pay $20 for a 5pm checkout (and only because the hotel wasn’t full). The hotel was pretty phenomenal, with included breakfast, two pools, a pool bar and ocean views from our apartment-like hotel room.

We decided to walk down to the beach from our hotel and look for sea glass, which is so easy to find in Spain, it seems like no one collects it here. As we walked around the beach, the sun came out! So I decided I wanted to go sit by the pool again. There was a strong breeze but it was a perfect day to lay out in the sun again!

We really had an uneventful rest of our day and then headed to the airport around 4pm. Our flight to Barcelona was delayed quite a bit and we arrived around 10pm, headed directly to our hotel and proceeded to have the worst experience trying to eat dinner of the whole trip 😂

The kitchen closed at 11, so when we arrived at 10:15 we were nervous but hopeful we wouldn’t have an issue! Unfortunately, it took someone about 25 minutes to take our order… the whole ordeal was quite silly and the food was not at all good… but the ice cream was 😝

After our exceptionally long meal, we headed to bed, as Heidi was flying out of Barcelona at 10:30am the next day.

Day 10 + 11 Barcelona & London:

Currently catching up on the last two days on the blog. Walking 10 miles a day doesn’t make it very easy to want to write a blog post every night 😂

My mom and I woke up around 8:30am, pretty desperate to just get a move on to London and/or to go home. You know when you’re trip is at the end and you know it and all you want is to just snap your fingers and be home? That was us. It seems silly to feel that way when you’re in another country and not just around the corner, but it happened and I won’t deny it. We spent some time weighing our options to try and make it back to London earlier… but it just didn’t work out so we decided to make the best of our day in Barcelona!

I honestly thought that when we booked this trip I would really want another day in Barcelona, but we accomplished so much at the beginning of the week and Ibiza was so relaxing that I just wasn’t ready for the hustle of the city again.

Once we decided to make the most of the day & enjoy the experience, we rented bikes from the hotel and set off to see the Font Magica and the 1992 Olympic Park. The bike ride was rough, we walked the bikes for the majority of our trip up to the top but it was sunny by this point and the views were well worth the wait. The park was closed and I’m not really sure why… I should google that… can’t find an answer. Whatever! We got to see the park from outside the gates, and while it seemed a bit run down it was still interesting to see. We biked (downhill thankfully) to the Font Magica, and realized the fountains are only on for the show at 21:00 😂 oh well!! We saw them!!

After the fountains, we stopped for lunch at a place called Mondoré where I had two fantastic croquettes and a very interesting fruit beer. We decided we wanted to keep drinking and I lead us off to a restaurant I had found on yelp with panoramic sea views. The bike ride was awesome, the street we rode on had specific bike lanes in the middle of it… complete with bike-specific traffic lights, and the lane is surrounded on both sides with bumpers so that traffic cannot swerve into the lanes. Once we got to the park where the restaurant was, we had to walk up quite a few stairs, but the view was worth it! The restaurant ended up not letting us just sit for drinks (rude) so we turned back and headed for our bikes and the hotel.

At the hotel, we parked ourselves on the rooftop bar & enjoyed a drink and some sunshine (my mom) and shade (me, I’m VERY sunburned from Ibiza but it’s my fault for not using sunscreen yesterday).

Now we are currently sitting at the airport waiting for our flight to London at 8:40pm. I don’t think we’ll have much to do if anything tonight in London, but I’m hopeful we will head into the city for a bit tomorrow before our 4:40pm flight to Washington Dulles. We’ll be back in Cleveland tomorrow around 11pm… crazy how time flies when you’re having fun!
