With an enriching history, fun for all ages, and sun-soaked nature around every corner, Tampa is one of Florida’s most beloved gems. Check out a city native’s recommendations below, highlighting some of our favorite spots for you to enjoy on a visit to the Gulf Coast destination.

Stay:

  • Hotel Haya - This new boutique hotel stays true to Ybor City’s historic Cuban roots in a fun modern style

  • Epicurean Hotel - An elevated stay located in the central and vibrant “SoHo” downtown area of Tampa

  • Don CeSar (St. Petersburg, FL) - Though this resort is a short drive from Tampa, it would be remiss to not mention it. Indulge yourself in Florida’s famous “Pink Palace”, a beachfront luxury situated right on the beach

Dinner

  • Bern’s Steakhouse - Fine dining loved both locally and nationally! TIP: Make those reservations way ahead of time! And don’t miss a tour of their wine cellar and the “Dessert Room”

  • Columbia Restaurant - There are multiple locations throughout Florida, but the original is in Tampa’s Ybor City. Opened in 1905, it’s the oldest restaurant in the state and still standing for good reason - the food is incredible! Make sure to get the “1905 Salad” as an appetizer.

  • Ulele - Enjoy eclectic eats at this newer addition to the Tampa Riverwalk

  • Jackson’s Bistro - Downtown spot with incredible water views and great sushi

Drinks + Nightlife:

  • Ciro’s - Upscale speakeasy located in the beautiful Bayshore area

  • Wine Exchange - Relaxed bistro in Hyde Park Village

  • Hamburger Mary’s - Guaranteed fun time in lively Ybor City. Food, drinks, and DRAG QUEENS!

  • Angry Chair Brewing - Great craft brews at a lowkey spot in trendy Seminole Heights

  • Bar hopping in the SoHo area, short for "South Howard Avenue” (can get packed, but fun you want a party vibe - think Broadway Street in Nashville!)

  • CW’s Gin Joint

    • the Espresso martini comes highly recommended
