Baby’s First Trip Packing List

We’re taking our first trip with Baby next week to Tampa! I am so thankful that I got invited down (with the fam) for a work meeting and we’re taking a few extra days to explore Tampa and meet up with some family before my meetings. I wanted to put together a list of what we’re packing for baby because I did a ton of research and I wanted to help you out if you were struggling to figure out what to pack for a newborn on your first flight. She really doesn’t need much at this age (she’s 2 months old) but it still feels nice to be prepared!

Diaper Bag: I originally was gifted a different bag from my registry, but I didn’t feel like it could hold everything we needed and be my own personal carry-on for this flight and future trips. I really wanted to try to be able to consolidate everything into one bag so we weren’t carrying too much! I decided to order this Dagne Dover Indi Diaper Backpack to try and I’m really glad I did. It comes with a changing pad!

Here is my review of the Dagne Dover Indi vs the Mina Baie Kinney.

In the diaper bag I’m packing:

  • Pacfifers in this pacifier container that clips to my bag to make them easy to find and keeps them clean

  • Pacifier wipes

  • Pacifier clip

  • Wipes

  • Diapers

  • Burp Cloths (we love these)

  • Formula dispenser (with extra formula just in case)

  • Changing pad (comes with our diaper bag)

  • Extra shirt for mom and dad (baby loves to spit up!)

  • Portable sound machine

  • Stroller fan

  • For mom & dad

    • wet ones hand wipes

    • iPad

    • Headphones

    • wallet

  • birth certificate (don’t forget you need a copy of this for baby when you travel!!)

Baby’s Packed Bag:

  • 3 Kyte Baby onesies - we went with Kyte Baby because she seems to run hot and the bamboo seems to keep her cooler than cotton!

  • 2 Kyte Baby bummies - I especially like these for when she’s in the car seat or stroller so the straps don’t rub on her legs!

  • 2 footies - we have some hand-me-down bamboo ones from Kyte Baby

  • 2 cute outfits - I feel like I won’t even use these but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity

  • Sleep Swaddle - gotta keep our same routine going

  • Extra burp cloths

  • Sunglasses (we went with Babiators)

  • Hat, we found this one at target

  • Swaddle for sun protection or if we need it on the go

  • Thermometer - just in case

Our Gear:

On top of the above gear, we are renting items from BabyQuip to make staying in a hotel room easier! We “ordered” the Baby Brezza bottle sterilizer and formula dispenser and a bouncer from one of the local providers to be delivered and picked up from our hotel. This was cheaper than booking a hotel with a kitchenette for this trip at $112 total for 4 days including delivery. You can even rent a crib or a sleep pod and plenty of other items for older kids like beach toys!
